Stylianos Chatzimichalis was born in 1963 and studied journalism in Rome at the Centro internazionale per gli studi dell'opinione pubblica and photography and graphic design at the Pythagoras School in Thessaloniki.
In search of something that will express him, and influenced by jewellery designers, silver and goldsmiths from his environment, he immersed himself in the processing of metals and designs and creates his first handmade jewellery in 1994.
This was followed by numerous jewellery series made of precious metals, semi-precious stones and enamel, as well as handmade gift items made of copper and silver.
His interest in people and the special moments of daily life led him to design and create a series of bronze micro-sculptures with anthropocentric themes, which he presented at a professional exhibition in Athens in the fall of 2002, while in 2003 he created two more series, «Athletes» and «Summer Landscapes».
In 2004 he has his first solo exhibition in Afitos, Chalkidiki.
In 2008, at the international exhibition Amberif in Poland, he presents a new series of paintings in complex style and micro-sculptures dealing with visions and manifestations of people. From the reactions and acceptance of the public, he realises how deep, indestructible and timeless the relationship between people and art is, and is thrust into a new creative period.
Considering art as a perpetual existential quest, he expands his artistic expression and enriches his technique, combining painting, sculpture and similar constructions in each of his works. The result of these efforts are the new series of works such as «Love for ... », «Companionship», «Sky and Sea», «Decoration», «Like a Fairy Tale», etc.
As a father of four children, he is inspired by their imagination and fiction, and creates the collection of paintings «The Kingdom of Children».
His works have been exhibited by the «Museum of Contemporary Art» and the «Foundation of the Hellenic World».
He collaborates with galleries and stores of contemporary art objects in Greece, Cyprus, Belgium and France.
In a nutshell...
His inspiration comes mainly from his interest in people, events and visions. He believes that art is a natural function, a constant desire of man to get in touch with his own existence by capturing his expressions in the natural or urban environment.
