Thanos Mikroutsikos sets the poems of Nikos Kavvadias to music and the album entitled «O Stavros tou Notou» (The Cross of the South), released in autumn 1979 by LYRA, is considered and is one of the most important in the history of Greek discography.

In the first weeks of its release, it seemed doomed by critics and journalists who considered it a failure.

Everyone was contradicted! The people embraced the album and ranked it among the most commercial records of Greek music, since it is estimated that to date it has sold more than 2 million copies!

8 of the 11 songs on the album were performed by Yannis Koutras and 2 of them by Vassilis Papakonstantinou, while the track «O Stavros tou Notou» was performed by Aimilia Sarri.

The poems of Nikos Kavvadias come from the collections «Poussi», «Marabou», «Traverso» (Kedros Editions).
