Marinella is one of the most popular singers in Greece and Cyprus. His professional career began in 1957 with 66 albums, most of which were very popular with the public. Marinella is the first representative of Greece at Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with the song «Krasi, Thalassa Kai T' Agori Mou». Marinella also makes appearances in several films, most often in a singer role.

Kostas Hatzis was born in Livadeia, a city in central Greece to a Hellenized Romani family. Considered a leading composer and a pioneer in the Greek social song, he has popularised the «voice-guitar» style, voicing ballads with social messages.

Hatzis's talent was discovered by the day's great composers like Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Mimis Plessas, Stavros Xarchakos, and Yannis Markopoulos, with whom he since has collaborated, performing their songs, incorporating his personal style and particular sensibility to them.
